The highest happiness must always come from using the best thing in us. If you take an inventory of yourself at the very outset of your career, you will find that you think you are going to find happiness in finances, things, or in conditions.
Many people think they are going to find the main part of their happiness in money, what money will buy or what it will give them in the way of power, influence, comforts, and luxuries. They think they are going to find a great deal of their happiness in marriage. How quickly they find that the best happiness they will ever know is that which must be limited to their own capacity for enjoyment, that their happiness cannot come from anything outside of them but must be developed from within. Controlling your finances can add to your happiness.
Personal Finance Tips
In tough economic times, it is all too easy to find yourself suddenly having financial problems. Whether your bills are piling up, you have debts you can't pay, or you are looking for ways to earn more money, this advice can help.
Many people believe they are going to find much of their happiness in books, in travel, in leisure, in freedom from the thousand and one anxieties and cares and worries of business; but the moment they get in the position where they thought they would have freedom many other things come up in their minds and cut off much of the expected joy. When they get money and leisure they often find that they are idle and growing selfish, which cuts off a lot of their happiness.
No person able to work can be idle without feeling a sense of guilt at not doing their part in the world. Idleness is the last place to look for happiness. Idleness is like a stagnant pool. The moment the water ceases to flow, to work, to do something, all sorts of vermin and hideous creatures develop in it. It becomes torpid and unhealthy giving out gloom and repulsive odors.
In the same way some meaningful involvement is the only thing that will keep a person healthy and wholesome. An idle brain very quickly breeds impurities.
The married couple quickly learns that their domestic happiness depends upon what they both contribute to the partnership, that they cannot take out a great deal without putting a great deal in, for selfishness always reaps a mean, shameful harvest. It is only the generous giver who gets much.
There is nothing which will constrict the capacity for happiness as selfishness. It is always a fatal blighter, blaster, and disappointer. We must give to get, we must be great before we can get great enjoyment; great in our motive, grand in our endeavor, sublime in our ideas.
To be really happy a person a person should be good, honest, and true. This does not mean that a person is happy because he does not smoke, drink, gamble, use profane language or does not do other vicious things.
Some of the meanest, narrowest, most contemptible people in the world do none of these things but they are uncharitable, jealous, envious, and revengeful. They stab you in the back, slander you, and cheat you. They may be cunning, underhanded, and yet have a fairly good standing in the church. Selfishness is a fatal enemy of happiness.
When you learn to communicate clearly, you enhance your self-improvement. What you communicate to others about your motives, ideas, desires, and morals determines the concept of your personality in the minds of others.
However, what you say can sometimes come across different than what you mean to communicate. What others perceive can be determined from a combination of the ways in which you get your message across. This can include words, body language, tone, clarity of the message, and even your listening skills as you respond to what someone is saying back to you.
Changing your attitude will also help you communicate clearly and improve your self-improvement. Remember that your success can depend upon communicating effectively with other people. If you have been attempting to succeed in communicating merely with word choice, you may have failed again and again, for words are less effective than tones, and tones are less effective than body language.
When interacting with others, you should express yourself clearly and honestly. Anyone listening to you should have no question as to what you mean. Being clear is not always easy; therefore, speaking precisely has to be practiced. Use words to express your ideas. Use tone to express your feeling. Use only body language to express motives. Remember these tips and chances are you will not be misunderstood.
Most of the time when you communicate, you use
• body language.
You also communicate with the clothing you wear. Your overall appearance makes a profound statement. Another communication skill that is often overlooked and needs attention is listening.
Do you hear words, or do you really listen? Do you use a process of thinking or reasoning while listening to get the true meaning out of what is being said? Here is a breakdown of some communication components:
Where do you look when you are communicating with others? You should maintain good eye contact without staring at the other person. Don’t look at the floor or over the person’s shoulder. Don’t roll your eyes if you disagree with another’s words. People will notice if they see your eyes roll or your head move side to side while they are trying to communicate with you.
Remember that you disagree with what is being said, not with the person. During your next conversation, observe the eye contact made by others. Notice whether you feel intimidated or involved. Become aware of your eyes during communication. If you think you need to improve your eye contact skills, work on it. Habits can be changed with practice and perseverance.
What words do you use to express your ideas or to make a point? Use simple words that project the clearest understanding of the subject. It is not necessary to demonstrate your big word vocabulary, and many people who do this come across as trying to impress people more than trying to communicate with them.
Above all, do not use profanity. Using profanity to express yourself gives the impression that your vocabulary is very limited and you have to use fillers. Profanity can also shut down the lines of communication when others become offended by the words you use.
Words can provoke anger or words can soothe. Words are symbols. You will find that a one-word symbol can mean to you the sum total of a combination of countless ideas, concepts, and experiences, and the same can be true of the person you’re talking to.
You will also see the subconscious immediately communicates to the conscious mind through symbols. Through one word you can motivate others to act. When you say to another person “You can!” this is a suggestion. When you say to yourself “I can!” you motivate yourself by self-suggestion.
Choose words carefully. Remember, once words are out, you can’t take them back. Poorly chosen words can really hurt sometimes, so it’s better to err on the side of caution than to later regret what you said.
I wanted a tripod to hold my tablet so that I could create various videos. Research had to be done first before making a decision. I looked at a lot of tripods but decided to buy the AmazonBasics 60” Lightweight Tripod with Bag. It was indeed a great decision.
The tripod arrived boxed securely and included was a sturdy black bag that you can use to carry the tripod around. I was so surprised to see how well the tripd was made. The craftmanship far exceeded my expectations for the small amout of money that I paid for it. When you set the tripod up, the rubber feet on the bottom keeps it in place. There is a lot of plastic parts but to date everything is still in tact...nothing broken. The adjustable arm allows for positioning in various positions.
I connect my tablet to the tripod using the ChargerCity Vibration Free 360° Adjust Tripod Mount 1/4-20 Adapter, I also connect my phone to the tripod using the Universal Smartphone Tripod Adapter Holder for Apple iPhone 6s Plus 6 SE Samsung Galaxy S6 S7 EDGE Note LG G5 Mount Clip Holder with 1/4-20 Connector. It is so easy to create my videos. I have been very pleased with this tripod and highly recommend it.
While creating youtube videos with my Samsung Galazy Tab S2 8.0 tablet, I realized that I needed a lapel microphone. Since my tablet was going to be mounted on a tripod during the creation of many videos, I needed a mic that would allow me to move around and not be confined to one spot. I researched a few days before finding the PowerDeWise Lavalier Microphone. I read many good reviews about this mic.
I finally purchased the mic from Amazon. It is omnidirectional and a clip-on. The cable attached to the mic is almost 5 feet long. There is another extension cable that is over 6 feet long. That is a lot of cable and allows you to move around and capture more images in your videos and still be able to insert audio as needed. It records very clear voices. To date, I haven’t noticed any background noise. There is also a nice bag that protects the mic when you store it or carry it with you.
The PowerDeWise Lavalier Mic works well with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0. I had to go into settings and select use external mic. This is the first lavalier mic that I have used and I love it. It is a great mic for a great price. I would recommend to anyone.
Do you have a lapel microphone or any microphone that you love? Please tell us about it.
During my creative writing, I decided to create some videos about my books. I needed a tablet and a camera but my budget would only allow for one device. I researched many hours and finally found the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. I thought the reviews were good enough to consider purchasing this tablet. I use it at home and on the move. It has a great front and back camera.
I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 32 GB from Amazon and I am very pleased. I use it to research, write, browse the web, and take photos and videos.
I received the tablet in a beautiful box. I ordered the gold tablet…it is beautiful. The tablet is very thin and light. In the box was the tablet, Health & Safety and Warranty Guide, and the Quick Start Guide. The Quick Start Guide is very easy to follow.
Also included in the box were a travel adapter and a miscroUSB cable. The tablet has a touch screen and the images are crisp and clear. It connects easily to wifi. You can install a Micro SD for more storage. When I download a movie, it is super clear.
The tablet does not have an hdmi port but tablet is mhl compliant…so you can purchase a Samsung mhl adapter if you want to connect to your TV that has an hdmi port. The battery is supposed to last 10 hours but I have never let it go that long before charging it.
I easily transfer photos and videos from the Samsung GalaxyTab S2 tablet to my computer. I love this tablet and highly recommend it. Do you have a tablet that you can’t do without?
Must Have Wireless Speaker: Photive CYREN Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with Built in Speakerphone PH-BT1000
I purchased this wireless speaker from Amazon because I needed to enhance the sound from my old laptop. When I researched for an affordable speaker, this speaker caught my interest. I read descriptions and reviews on many other wireless speakers, but the Photive CYREN Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker was best for my needs and my budget. It is a portable rechargeable Bluetooth stereo speaker.
Included in the box was an instruction manual, Micro USB charging cable, an audio line in to use if you don’t have Bluetooth, a bag to carry speaker in when traveling, and the speaker.
The speaker paired seamlessly with the laptop through the Geartist transmitter and receiver and the sound from my laptop was excellent. With the Bluetooth technology in the speaker, I connected up to 15 feet away. The sound from the wireless speaker is a crisp clean sound and you definitely hear a deep bass. The speaker has a built-in rechargeable battery. I have only used it approximately 5 hours at a time.
I have not tried to stream and share music with this speaker. It has a built in mic. It pairs easily with my Smartphone enabling me to be in another room and still communicate with the caller. Overall, this was a very good purchase and I highly recommend this speaker.
